Holocaust Memorial
The National Holocaust Memorial
First View
The Memorial is titled "Landscape of Loss, Memory and Survival"
Angularity
The Monument looks roughly like a Star of David from the air, although this is difficult to see when you standing inside of it
The Hopeful Stairs
At the top of these stairs, the visitor can look across the city to view the pinnacle of the Peace Tower at Parliament
Interior
Inside the Monuments tight walls, one gains a better sense of the stark vision employed by the architect
Interior 2
The monument makes excellent use of light and shadow, particularly evident in the low fall sunlight
The Walk
The Monument deliberately produces claustrophobia, invoking a memory of the concentration camps used to kill millions
Final Look
The Monument was primarily created by Architect Daniel Libeskind, and sits right across from the War Museum
